Second city of the province of Frosinone, Cassino lies at the foot of the hill on which stands the famous Abbey of Montecassino. Almost totally destroyed by bombs of World War II, it was rebuilt after the war. It hosts the University of Cassino.
The town of Cassino, well connected to the gulf of Gaeta and the Parco Nazionale d'Abruzzo, is crossed by important roads joining Rome to Naples and the rest of south Italy.
